Kitchen design trends are constantly evolving. This year’s styles are all about adding more color, vibrancy and aesthetic appeal. The following are 4 hot kitchen design trends for 2019:

4 Popular Kitchen Design Trends This Year

Incorporate These Elements into Your Kitchen Design

1. Add a Pop of Color

Whether it’s on the walls, cabinetry or appliances, adding color throughout the kitchen brings energy to the space. Light green is one of the most popular colors today for kitchen interiors, and it is commonly used on cabinetry. Another color making an unexpected splash is matte black. Fixtures and hardware in matte black nicely contrast wooden cabinets, copper fixtures and other warm-toned elements.

2. Adding Elegance with Stone

When it comes to styling and practical use, it is difficult to beat the good looks and durability of stone. In a modern kitchen, neutral-colored stone can be used to balance out various other colors. This is most commonly used for countertops or tables, but stone walls and backsplashes are also popular.

3. Smart Appliances

The biggest changes in kitchen technology are the refrigerators. Many smart fridges now have Wi-Fi connectivity and internal cameras, so you can see what’s inside without opening the door. Touch screen display can be used to look up recipes or create grocery lists, and you can even sync to your smartphone or other device for remote operation.

It’s not only fridges that can be operated remotely, however. Certain ovens now come with Wi-Fi connectivity and can be controlled from your mobile device – even if you’re outside the house. This technology keeps you from having to remain in the kitchen for hours while cooking.

4. Open Shelving

Perhaps one of the hottest trends in kitchen design right now is open shelving. Removing cabinetry and replacing it with metal, glass or wood shelves allows your dishes and utensils to become part of your kitchen design. This is convenient not only because it allows for easier access to items, but also because it saves money on installing cabinetry.
