Before you pick up a paintbrush, you should take a moment and consider powder coating as an alternative to conventional painting methods. Powder coating offers an incredibly durable finish that is crisp and pleasing to the eye. This is an efficient and cost-affordable option that can work for everything from your steel bicycle to your metal fencing to your exterior shade hardware.

To understand more about why powder coating would be a great option for you, let's take a quick 101 intro into the process:

An Eco-Friendly Beginning

Powder coating first emerged in the late 1960s as an attractive and eco-friendly alternative to traditional methods of surface coating and painting. This is because the process doesn't produce the hazardous by-products-overspray waste, volatile organic compounds, and wastewater sludge that other methods do. It also has greater durability, better resists corrosion, and results in a higher quality finish, making users say 'Wow'.

Today, powder coating is the premier choice for manufacturers in almost every industry, including furniture, medical devices, appliances, and automotive companies.

How It Works

The type of powder used in this finishing process is a mix of resin and pigment. A special spray gun puts a possitive charge on this combination of powder particles as they rush past an electrostatic field on its way out of the nozzle and onto the desired surface. This surface, the parts needing to painted, are generally moved along via a grounded conveyor that imparts a negative charge causing the primer to better stick or 'cling' to the surface.

The sprayed item is then either heated with special equipment or put into an oven so that the primer can be baked for a set amount of time. Once ready, it'll undergo the spraying process again for a crisp finishing coat before being heated again for a final cure.

Back to Those Benefits

  • Amazing weather resistance. In Las Vegas, you can expect to see some weather extremes, particularly during the peak summer months. Products and building materials that have been powder coated can be expected to handle most any weather challenge for upwards of twenty years, even in conditions of the blistering heat of July and August.
  • Versatile use. Powder coating is a great choice for both indoor and outdoor products and areas. It's been long utilized as an effective coating for metal fencing and outdoor furniture. Want to refresh the look of your favorite indoor lamp? No problem. Powder coating is great for those small pieces like light fixtures that need precision application.
  • High quality look. Powder coating offers amazing aesthetic value at an incredibly low rate. You can choose from a wide variety of colors to match up to the specifics of your desired color scheme, as well as any texture schemes and effects you want to add. And, best of all, you'll enjoy a flawless, professional look upon completion.
